I used to get psyched for MSR, but since they moved the finish further from the base of the Poggio (12 years ago now?), I think it really makes it a much more boring race.
Back in the day it was great watching dudes try to rip each other's legs off on that climb because they knew if they got a gap over the top, the had a real chance to win. Now its always won by a sprinter because their teams can bring it all together after the hills.
Its not quite the Italian version of Paris Tours, but its pretty close.
